I’m a big fan of birthdays. Who doesn’t want a day dedicated to the celebration of just them? Being a wedding photographer I tend to work a lot of Saturdays. And with my birthday falling in the middle of May (prime wedding season) chances are I’m normally working my birthday weekend. So is the case this year. I had one free Saturday in the month of May, so I decided to take advantage of it and celebrate my birthday a little early.
Saturday I got a small group of close friends together, and we went to the zoo. I love the zoo (and Sea World- I’m a kid at heart). The weather was perfect and I got to spend my (early) birthday doing what I love most…being surrounded with friends.
Of course I brought my camera along to document the day…and the animals.
I love giraffes…and I made it a point to get a picture with a giraffe in the background for my new facebook profile photo. I’m such a nerd. 😉 Thanks Lynsey for capturing what I wanted! You rock!
Me with a couple friends…I’ve known these two love birds since high school and am so excited that we finally live in the same city again!
Now to the animals.
This elephant wanted back inside his covered area away from the sun, so he went to the door and started knocking with his trunk. Zoo staffers were cleaning the area though so he was stuck outside.
This guy was also fun to watch. He picked up two tomatoes from the ground, saw that they were dirty and took them over to his drinking water and washed the tomatoes off before eating them.
After the zoo we went to dinner and enjoyed some good food, a drink or two and great company. It was, simply put, a great day. 🙂
Part two of my early birthday celebration takes place next Sunday, so make sure to check back! I’m a little nervous about it, but I know it’ll be great!
