One of the most important pieces of advice I can give you to help you get the best photos possible is to choose a photographer you trust.  Trusting your photographer is such an important part of the equation.  As artists sometimes we might see something while we are at a session and be struck with a vision.  Sometimes the end result of that image can’t always be seen by others.  We might want to try out a new location that doesn’t look so amazing in person but photographs really well.   I’ve had (amazing) clients look at me like I’m crazy when I ask them to do something because they can’t see what I see…yet.  But, because they trust me they do what I ask and when they get that image back in their final gallery they usually love it and it clicks why I asked them to do what I did.  I have received emails before from clients saying that even though they didn’t get it at the time they are so glad they trusted my vision and went with it anyway.

One of the best things a client has ever said to me is, “Kasey, I trust you.  Whatever you need you got it.”

Those lines are what every photographer loves to hear.  We want you to hire us because you love our work and our vision.  If you can allow yourself to trust in your photographer and their vision then it gives us the freedom to be creative and get some really amazing images.  If you have trouble letting go of that control and wanting to be in charge of your session it can stifle a photographer’s creativity and many times your images will suffer because of it.

Try to let go and just enjoy the session.  You hired a professional, let them worry about the details of each photo and you just enjoy the experience!  It’s usually a fun one!
