Summer may be flying by, but there’s still plenty of time to soak up the sunshine and make a few more memories before the back-to-school rush begins! Whether you’re looking for a new park to explore, a fun family outing, or just a reason to get out of the house, I rounded up some of my favorite summer activities in Kingwood and the surrounding areas. Splash Pad & Playground – Bull Sallas Park – 21679 McCleskey, New Caney, TX 77357

This recreation area has an outdoor play area and splash pad that is open to the public and free to use.  They have a big pavilion that offers shade (much needed in Houston) while you watch your little ones.

Kingwood Library + Play Area – 4400 Bens View Ln, Kingwood, TX 77339

The Kingwood library has so many free classes and programs for all ages, check their website for their calendar, but they have an open play area for your little ones that is another great option to get them out of the house (and out of the heat).

Indoor Playground – Methodist Church – 1799 Woodland Hills Dr, Kingwood, TX 77339

This is such a fun and easy way to get your kids out of the house and stay out of the heat.   Their open schedule changes throughout the year, but for summer (and at the time of this newsletter), their schedule is May 22-September 8: Monday-Thursday: 9am-4pm, Friday: 9am-Noon  If you have a doubt about the schedule, call first to make sure it’s open.

Rob Fleming Park Aquatic Center – 6535 Creekside Forest Dr, The Woodlands, TX 77389

Cool off this summer at the Rob Fleming Aquatic Center! With waterslides, a relaxing lazy river, splash play areas for little ones, and plenty of room to swim, it’s the perfect way to beat the Texas heat.  Heads up:  there is a cost with this one, so make sure to check their website for their most up to date fees.

On the Park Toy & Candy Store – 1271 Kingwood Dr, Kingwood, TX 77339

Throughout the week, our local toy store hosts fun, engaging activities for little ones, including sensory playdates, Mommy & Me story times, and other rotating events. It’s the perfect place to let your kids explore, meet other local families, and maybe even leave with a sweet treat or a new favorite toy. Check their websitefor their current schedule of events.

The Mudpie Company – 36 N Main St, Kingwood, TX 77339

I think this is such a fun activity for kids who love art and being creative.  The Mudpie Company is a paint-your-own-pottery studio that offers walk-in ceramics painting.  They can also host birthday parties if you’re looking for party ideas.
